The next event was our club November 12 car rally organised by Paul & David Smalley saw 7 teams starting and finishing from Massingham Social Club, with Rob Kitchen/Jonathan Stimpson winning, Harvey Steel/Martin Pitt coming in 2nd and Mick Beauchamp/Mark Banham 3rd. While results were being finalised chip butties where provided, thanks to Mathew for collecting the chips from Gayton. Thanks to everybody who took part and the marshals for coming out on a dark November evening.
Circuit Rally Championship – Round 2 (Nov 16, Cadwell Park)
Following this on 16th was the 2nd round of the Circuit Rally Championship this time at Cadwell Park, we had quite a few members competing on this one. The first stage was a bit slippery which caught a few out with some venturing onto the grass in places, luckily with no damage being done to the cars.
Ford Escort – Car 38
Alistar Wait from Mundesley with Kevin Maclver from Aberdeenshire on the maps, a spirited drive saw them finish 23rd overall and 6th in class, a great result as it was Alistar’s first event at Cadwell Park since the late 1990s.
MG ZR – Car 47
Jon Bray with Darren Styles on the maps. The car had a gasket issue resulting in running so rich it was making the car hard to drive, but they completed all the stages and came home 41st overall and 2nd in class bringing home a nice cup.
Saxo VTS – Car 83
Matt and Hannah Ellis were out in their Saxo VTS in number 83 for only their second time on a stage rally and first time entering the Circuit Rally Championship. They had a tricky start in the slippery conditions but held their own to finish a credible 55th overall and 8th in class well done to you both, we look forward to seeing how they get on in the remaining round of the championship.
Car 58
Will Brown was navigating for Tim Milner in Car 58 unfortunately the clutch broke on stage 6, so no finish them this time.
Car 88
Chris Cockrell in car 88 in a mini hire car was another one with bad luck on the day, with head gasket failure on Stage 2 better luck next time you get out on the stages.
Knutsford Targa Rally
Rob Palmer and Kevin Groom was also out at the weekend competing on the Knutsford Targa rally unfortunately an off into the trees put an end to their rally, luckily the crew were all ok.
