Classic Car Run

Full Chat – May 2006

Well, that’s another month gone by.

In April Chris Cockrell competed in the last round of the Circuit Rally Championship.

Chris sent in a report on his weekend.

My starting position was 98 in a rally prepared rental Mini and ended up 67 overall and 3rd in class . Pleased with the result however on stage 1 I had a tyre wedge under the car and cost me a good 5 mins so may have been a different story if that hadn’t happened but hey ho lessons learnt about cutting tight square lefts when there’s tyres out 😂👍.

As the circuit rally championship has finished that’s it for a while now until July 19th when I will be doing Pembrey rally in a Suzuki Swift rental. Then deciding to do the circuit rally championship in a Mini or a Suzuki or both 😁 when it starts again in November. My position in the circuit championship overall is 38th and 2nd in class 10. Hope to see you all soon.

Best wishes

Next up was Adrian and Caroline Cunnington’s Friday evening Classic run, this time with 14 cars taking part. Starting from GT67 at Kings Lynn and finishing at the Brothers in Arms at Walpole St Andrews, it was a nice ride round some pleasant Norfolk countryside, another well organised and excellent evening.

On Sunday 17th we had 5 cars on display at the Stody Classic Cars and Open Garden Day, a well-supported event with a good variety of cars and motorcycles, so plenty to look at. Also, most of the rhododendron and azaleas were still in flower, and a good selection of food, drink and plants on sale, well worth a visit next year.
