The 60th Anniversary Dinner

Many thanks to all the sub committee who worked so hard on the organisation of the 60th Dinner.

What a brilliant evening it was with two great speakers to entertain everyone, Mike Nickolson and our own Martin Brundle.

I think both of them enjoyed the Q & A format of the evening after Mike had relayed a few rally tales with different drivers! very entertaining. There was certainly lots of audience participation which made for a lively evening.

I am fairly certain that all the guests enjoyed the event, I think it was one of our best by.

Once again thanks to the ‘team’ which delivered a first class event, as usual!

Look out for books from Mike & Martin – both are now available!

Many thanks to everyone who turned out to help on the rally. It was a shame that two crews couldn’t make it due to work commitments which cut the entry down to four. However, I think you all enjoyed yourselves and really achieved something by solving the navigation and competing on a proper rally; you all did very well. Thanks also to the many marshals who came out to man the controls, I couldn’t have done it without you. I hope you all enjoyed the lovely food provided by our genial hosts, The Runcton Holme Social Club, who always treat KLDMC very well! I hope everyone will come out again either to compete or marshal and get the clubnights full again. Thanks to Mark for course car duties in his new Skoda VRS and to June and Dave for doing the start and course closer. Finally I hope all the competitors appreciated that I had the ‘Fincham yellow’ pot holes repaired for the rally !! Paul H.

Short Shift Rally

It’s a sign of the times that we only had eight entries for what turned out to be the first round of the “On the Road Championship” but the turnout from club members in general cannot be faulted.

I am sure you can appreciate that I did not have control over the weather though I was most impressed with the way in which all of the crews and marshals coped.  In view of the conditions the “Time Limit” was extended to 45 minutes from TC.8 onwards.

Many thanks and well done to everyone who tuned out and commiserations to Carol & Bob who got as far as King’s Lynn before breaking down.  A great shame as we don’t often get a chance to play in the snow and get it recorded on film.  Thanks are also due to Andy & Laura who jeopardized their rally to assist Terry.
